Times are tough. These days, every penny counts, unless of course you're a politician with a fertile imagination when it comes to expenses or the ex top man at the Royal Bank of Scotland.
So, if you're neither of the aforementioned, and you're selling your classic car, you'll want to make sure you get top dollar and you sell quickly. Here's a couple of top tips from yours truly:
- Clean it first. Not just a quick rinse and leather, I mean a full DIY valet. Yes, clean it like you mean it and you'll get much more for it...potentially much more. To prove the point, I took someone else's 5 Series BMW - valued at £375 - and upped its value to a whopping £2500 just by cleaning it properly using Autoglym products available off the shelf. Ended up with the lovely lady who owned it in tears. She couldn't believe her eyes.
The whole story and all the tips and top trade secrets are on my DVD, "How Clean is Your Car ?" for more info and to get hold of a copy for less than a tenner. Could be the best motor-related investment you've ever made.
- Advertise it in the right place and to the right audience. Obvious really. But where? I'm really impressed by the website www.carandclassic.co.uk
It's a really user friendly site and very easy to search. And, if you're a private seller, it's free. So a great option if you're in the market to move on your much loved motor. And, even if you're not, it's a top spot to window shop. I spend far too much time logged on creating my virtual dream garage.
